Immune Health
“With cold and flu season here, what can I do to keep healthy?” I have been asked this question hundreds of times over the past month. I think it’s time I answer this question for everyone.
First off, make sure you are getting your nervous system checked by Dr. Eric or me. Your nervous system controls your immune function. A subluxated person is vulnerable to viruses and bacteria. GET YOUR FAMILY CHECKED! The following information is for informative purposes only. Please check with your health care professional for advice specific to you. Be responsible for your decisions and get educated and you will do great!!!
Preventative measures: Vitamin D3- This is a must during this time of year. Our bodies make D3 when we are exposed to sunlight. During this time of year, our healthy sun exposure is dramatically decreased from more skin coverage and a sun that is lower in the sky. (This decreases the amount of UV light we receive.) Recent studies have shown that D3 kills the flu virus. Yes, I said kills. I recommend visiting Rebecca’s or Whole Foods and picking some up ASAP. I use the sublingual spray from Dr. Mercola.
Decrease sugar intake- Refined white sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and white flour (it gets converted to sugar in the body) dramatically decrease the immune function. Did you know a 20oz bottle of Coke contains 65 grams of sugar! Avoid sugar during this time of year. A treat once a week is OK.
Eat your fats- Your body needs the essential fatty acids to remain healthy. If you are deficient, you are further taxing your body. Take a quality omega 3 like the one kept in the office made by Standard Process or get one from Rebecca’s. I do not recommend going to a grocery store, pharmacy, or discount store for your omega 3’s. You must be sure you are getting a quality omega 3 that does not contain heavy metals and is from a cold water fish. For those of you who are vegetarians, I recommend you seriously consider a fish-based source.
Whole food supplement- We do not get all the nutrients in our daily food intake that we should. Take a quality whole food supplement, like Catalyn by Standard Process, to help make up the difference. Everyone should take this regardless of the time of year. You need it, so do it.
Exercise- Exercising keeps you healthy. It improves your immune function, your attitude, improves sleep, and is part of a normal healthy lifestyle.
Rest- Don’t burn the midnight oil. When you sleep, your body renews itself. This is a parasympathetic nervous system mediated event in your body. Sleep extraordinarily important to your health.
OK, I am feeling sick. What can I do?
Adjustments- Thirty minutes post adjustment, lab results show up to a 300% increase in immune cells. Not too shabby. Here are the guidelines for canceling an appointment because you are “sick.” 1. Bleeding from an orifice. 2. Lack of heartbeat 3. Rigor mortis You need to be adjusted when you are not feeling well. Can’t physically get to the office, we do house calls.
Immuplex/Congaplex Over the past seven years, I have watched sick people heal much faster when their body has all it needs for a proper functioning immune system. Immuplex can be used for the cold or flu symptoms and Congaplex for sinus and respiratory issues.
Netti Pot- This can be hard to do, but flushing your sinuses with warm saline solution can help you heal faster. Nasal irrigation has been used for thousands of years to promote healing in the sinuses.
Vitamin C- This is obvious! Everyone knows about the benefits of Vit. C. Avoid orange juice. There is too much sugar in orange juice. Just eat an orange.
Finally, attend the class on Thursday by our Wellness Director, Jason. Drugs that Don’t Work and Natural Remedies That Do. More information on this class below. In addition to this class, Dr. John Hess will be presenting Immune Health November 9th at 6:00 PM. In Health, Chad Hawk A note from Jason: Does it seem like pharmaceutical companies have a potion, lotion, shot, or pill for every malady under the sun? Can’t sleep at night? Take a pill. Cholesterol to high? Here’s another pill. Got acid reflux from eating 5 chili dogs at lunch? Two antacids with a shot of this pink liquid will take care of it. Problem with that is that one prescription leads to another and another and another…. You get the idea. I’m sure that everyone knows someone who is taking one medication to help with a problem, but then they have to take two more to counteract the effects of the first one. What if I told you that there are natural ways of taking care of many of the illnesses that we assume can only be dealt with by using highly potent and toxic medications? What if I then told you that they can be more effective and have little or no side effects on your body? Well, if I have piqued your curiosity at all, then you need to attend the next in our series of Wellness Club classes this Thursday at 6:00pm. Please call or e-mail the office to reserve your spot for this discussion that will help you and possible someone you know. We look forward to seeing you there.
